I can’t praise J&J Studios enough! My fiance and I were a bit nervous about taking our engagement photos but John and Vanessa made us feel so comfortable and made a potentially awkward situation feel so fun. J & J Studios recently took our engagement photos. Considering it was our first photo session, John and his assistant made us feel very comfortable as they created a very easy-going and relaxed session. J&J studios were there to capture the moment that I got engaged. Not only was I surprised about the engagement, but was then also surprised when my engagement picture was in Philly Magazine. John & Vanessa did an amazing job at capturing the snow falling and worked with my now husband on finding the perfect spot. We then used John and Vanessa for our engagement pictures and our wedding this past October. John & Vanessa are so easy to work with when it comes to scheduling dates, providing ideas for location of engagement/wedding pictures and were very patient when we included our 70 lb bernedoodle in our engagement pictures at the art museum. Our wedding was captured beautifully! I am so happy that I will have the pictures they took for the rest of my life. Their photography is beautiful and on the day of, they provided all of the direction and got all of the “key” shots without needing my input. I was able to relax on the day of my wedding as they took control and made sure we were sticking to the schedule we had planned. We also got a short wedding video, which included aerial video, and it is beyond amazing! They chose great shots, perfect music and the video flows so well that people who watch it feel like they are at our wedding. Clearly my husband and I love working with John & Vanessa as they create beautiful photography & videos, they are easy to work with and provide direction and take ownership of the shoot. My wedding was also featured in 13 magazines, which clearly is a testament to their work and that alone speaks to the level of quality of their work!

J&J Studios did our Wedding in May 2019 and they did absolutely phenomenal! John and his team did a ton of prep work including scoping our venue, which made the day of our wedding so much better becuase they knew where to take all the best shots! The day of our wedding John and his team were professional and they never got in the way! JJ studios provided us with so many beautiful photos that we couldn’t even include them all in our album! Additionally, they provided a highlight video ( early the day after our wedding!!! My husband and I got to watch it first thing when we woke up the day after our wedding). The video was done so beautifully. The photos were all beautiful and he made everyone look amazing! We did our wedding with J&J Studios, it was an amazing experience working with John and Vanessa, they really care for great shots and results making sure that our especial moment was memorable, we were so happy with them that we had to do our pregnancy shoot with them, I love how they tell you how to pose and what looks better, since I’m not a professional, but they are, they’re creative and very helpful!

We could not have chosen a better photographer for our wedding! John & his partner Vanessa were very punctual the day of our wedding, even early, and it was clear that they wanted to do the best photography work that day. Even in our tiny Old City hotel room with 6 women + hair & makeup professionals, John & Vanessa were in and out and got numerous beautiful “getting ready” photos. John was the perfect balance of ‘always there’ to catch memorable moments while also being ‘out of sight’ so as not to distract from the day. His artwork is impressive, and we can’t wait to save, print, and share these photos for a very long time! He also made the photos available extremely quickly, and easily! We met John through a mutual friend and came into his studio to talk about our small intimate vow renewal at Normandy Farms. We were concerned since it was such a tight schedule that John wouldn’t have time to pull things together, but whew were we wrong.
In the space of 10 minutes we sprinted around the grounds and took no less than ~20 stunning portraits of me and my husband. He even somehow had time to use his drone and take a few stunning aerial images, one of which hangs in our living room.
After the portraits, the vow renewal ceremony was fantastic in the private banquet area, and John somehow managed to make it look like we were in a grand hall. My family all commented how friendly John was and personable.
After the vow renewal we got the images back the next day. I was floored by how beautiful they were. And such a quick turn around! Absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely use them again (and we plan to for our anniversary) and recommend to friends and family alike.

I have to say I was anxious hiring this guy. It was rainy and gloomy my wedding day. I was crying. John and his assistant were like don’t worry, it will be alright. Yea right I thought.
Well, come a month later I get my pictures back and I was floored. It didn’t even look like it was raining. The pics have the golden toned sun kissed look that I wanted. It was almost like magic that the way he edited them I had amazing, golden, sun kissed beautiful images from my wedding.
I honestly broke down in tears when I got my album. So luxurious. I was so happy.

J&J Studios photographed our wedding in October 2017 and were recommended by the supplier from our wedding venue. My wife and I are very pleased with the wedding photographs. I had such a great experience with J&J Studios. John and Vanessa are both very professional and responsive. They are also very so efficient and resourceful. I am also a little camera shy and not the most knowledgeable as far as photo combos, poses, and/or locations goes. John and Van made just the right amount of really helpful suggestions and were really positive during our entire photo shoot. The location that they’ve suggested was also amazing…. it was very fitting to our personality and lifestyle. This is an update to our review. My husband had hired John and Vanessa for our engagement, and it was awesome. People are still talking about how beautiful the engagement pictures were. They have different packages to suit your needs (Photography and/or Video Services). We were so happy with our engagement photos, that we wanted John and Vanessa to also do our wedding. From the very beginning John is with you step by step and will answer any questions that you may have (and trust me we had a lot!). John helped us create our perfect wedding timeline and allowed some time for any surprises that might have come up. On our wedding day, they kept us on time to make sure we would be able to get the most photos we could of our special day (I have to say we were ahead of schedule). Even with our wedding mishaps (flowers taken to venue instead of hotel, groomsmen needing to run out to do some shopping and change of bridal suite at last minute) John and Vanessa were very patient and worked with us to make sure everything was going smoothly. We cannot WAIT to see our wedding photos. If you are in need of a photographer/videographer who are creative, professional and good at what they do look no further. John and Vanessa of J&J Studios will not disappoint.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about John and his work. When my husband and I got engaged, one of the first things we did was seek out a photographer. The photos were one of the most important aspects of the experience for us. Photos have always covered our home and we knew we needed John to shoot our day when we saw his work- the editing details, the angles and relaxed nature of his work was very appealing to us. John is extremely professional, detail oriented. thoughtful and a true joy to be around. I was nervous going into our engagement shoot, but John made us feel right at home, and as close to “models” as possible, he captured our love so well and we love looking at our engagement photos. From all over Rittenhouse Square on a chilly October night, to John’s ability to pivot quickly when our wedding changed venues less than 40 days out this September, he has been a constant for us! He kept us on track, always provided thoughtful suggestions and really listened to my husband and I about what we wanted. On the day of the wedding, John and his team did not disappoint. They got to work right away and at moments I forgot they were there! My guests also commented on the professionalism of the team and how they were able to capture the happiest day in a very long day, and of our life’s, so wonderfully. John gave us a sneak peak the night of our wedding of some pics he snapped and we were floored, again, by his work and thoughtfulness. J&J Studios is wonderful. We recently did our engagement photos with them and, despite some mishaps on our end (such as the groom-to-be accidentally bringing his blue suit jacket to wear with his black pants..), the session was wonderful and the photos turned out to be phenomenal. They made it super comfortable and easy even though neither of us had really been photographed prior to the session. He took his time to get creative with shots and different positions. We got our photos back so quickly and we were both stunned!! The edits and lighting and really everything about the photos are incredible. We would choose them again for any photography needs in a heartbeat. Very fun, pleasant session and wonderful turnout.
I highly recommend John and his company to any couple getting married during these unusual times. John made it clear that he was a creative professional from our first consultation. We were asking for something very unusual: Not only did we want to broadcast out our wedding to guests, we also wanted our parents to be able to give blessings and for readings to be given. I had consulted with several other vendors and none of them had any idea how to make this happen and the only other one who was willing to even consider it didn’t have the equipment. John brainstormed with us and made the wedding day really, really special. John worked with the synagogue where we got married to make sure that the stream would be exceptionally high quality. The only technical issues we ran into were due to people having different names than expected, which was in no way something that John or I could have predicted. The photographer who was there with John made sure we got every picture we could possibly want and had great suggestions for the few non-candid shots we wanted. John even had the pictures processed within less than 26 hours. The pictures did an amazing job of reflecting our joy and love on that day. We are so grateful to John and the people who work for him for making our wedding so special despite COVID-related restrictions and difficulties.

Our Anniversary Photo shoot was scheduled months in advance but, mother nature had her own plans and decided to send snow and rain and sleet. But, that did not stop J&J Studios.

I have been a bridesmaid in a few weddings in the Philly area, and I can confidently say no one beats John & Vanessa. They are professional — John is organized, easy to communicate with, and is transparent about prices/packages. Our wedding photographs were a perfect mix of editorial and authentic, making sure to capture all our moments! Moreover, they pay attention to the little details; they are always prepared with supplies (like command hooks for my dress); and they offer some direction when taking photos (which not all photographers do!). Wow wow wow! Hiring J&J was the best decision we made as a couple when planning our wedding. John is so responsive. You can send him an email and expect a response within minutes. The quality of their work is superb. We reached out to J&J literally 2 months before our wedding ceremony in September 2020 and luckily learned that John and his team were available. He walked us through his reasonable and very worth it packages and we decided what worked for us. Given the complexities of planning a Covid wedding, John agreed to split the 14 hour coverage into two days (7 hours in 2020 for the ceremony and 7 hours in 2021 for the reception). J&J was not only super responsive to us when communicating, but super punctual and beyond professional. From our engagement photos on the beach to the picture perfect photos of our ceremony to the stunning shots taken at our reception, we’re blown away with the work John and his team do.
